In the late 1960s Athan Boys Club managed to secure considerable funding to extend its Grove Road premises providing a new games hall and generally upgrading all its facilities for the members. With the club being affiliated to the London Federation of Boys’ Clubs and providing an extensive program for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme His Royal Highness agreed to come along and open the revamped club, from then on entitled Cameron Athan, on 12th Feb 1969.
